Advice to Investors from Maria Jerome, Director of Busy Bees Real Estate Agency

We talked to the TRNC investment process and options with Maria Jerome, Director of Busy Bees Real Estate Agency, one of the brands preferred by global investors in Northern Cyprus.

The Northern Cyprus real estate sector has been at the center of attention of global investors for years. Its location, safe life and earning potential are important for the investor.

The contribution of the companies that do their job professionally in their coming to the island and making the investment decision is great.

As Kıbrıs Emlak Merkezi, Cyprus’ first and only real estate news-advertising portal, we talked to the global investor’s impressions of TRNC with Busy Bees Real Estate Agency Director Maria Jerome.

– What is the reason for the foreign investor’s interest in Northern Cyprus?

At Busy Bees, most of our investors are from Europe and the Arabic states. But we are starting to see an increase from countries such as Turkey, Russia, South Africa and America.

– Is Northern Cyprus a lucrative region for investors, why? Which regiosn have more active interest and purchases? 

North Cyprus is the lowest priced country in the Mediterranean and offers great returns for those buying off plan to sell at completion, usually a minimum of 30%. Some of our developers offer guaranteed payment programmes. Another huge reason to invest in North Cyprus is that many feel sure that we will receive recognition soon, at which point we will see a massive hike in prices. For many, the Cyprus “problem” is the reason to invest.

– What is your advice to the investor?

Our advice to investors looking to make money with a quick return is always to buy off plan as close to the beginning as possible and to sell at or around completion time. We also advise on good land deals, where they can buy a great plot of land to sell on in the future for profit. For investors looking to buy to let, we have many options including some guaranteed rentals from some of the builders we work with, or alternatively, if they chose to buy a resale, we can offer our own rental services. We also offer a buy and build scheme, whereby we find our investors a good plot, assist them with the building of a villa or villas, and market it for them.
